Golden Pavilion

The artwork captures the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto, Japan. Originally built as a private residence for the most powerful man in Japan at the time (Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu). As requested in his will, after his death the pavilion was turned into a Zen Buddhist Temple. The Temple is built in three different styles with gold leaf covering the top two floors.
